I’ve never seen a man made creation like this. This work of art took all 35 years of my deck building and 20 years of deck board bending experience to pull this off.
I wanted to create something truly amazing that few can replicate- A compound curved, tilt back bench. It was challenging to create- I almost failed but when you pour enough money and energy into something you can’t erase from your mind, you persevere regardless of the cost or humility of failure.
Compound heat bent curved boards are not for beginners. They are no joke and are difficult to perfect. These planks surprised me how hot we had to get them to make what I thought would be simple bends. (sure.)
We had to create new ways to apply our standard methods to a new wave of exterior products to create something amazing that I’ve never seen before. So here you go. My best effort. Both sides of the bench back are skinned so theres no unfinished surfaces. Thank God for Cortex!!!

Located on a golf course, this project was designed to be both artistic and functional—reflecting the homeowner’s love of the game while addressing the unique challenges of its setting. The client wanted a creative statement piece that would provide shade, visual interest, and protection from stray golf balls while enjoying the fire pit.
The solution was a custom-engineered, round aluminum pergola with a fully motorized louvered roof—one of a kind in its design and construction. The roof was structurally reinforced to withstand high wind loads from the open course, combining sculpture and structure in a single architectural feature.
The pool’s existing placement and steep elevation changes demanded careful planning. The under-deck area was sunken to create usable living space, while strict setbacks and zoning limitations required precision in every aspect of layout and structure.
The final result is a striking blend of artistry and engineering—a sculptural outdoor retreat that integrates seamlessly with the pool and surrounding landscape, delivering creativity, protection, and year-round livability on a highly constrained site.

This unique feature had one goal: to make light itself the centerpiece. At the heart of the build is a fiber-optic lighting system powered by a light engine that feeds over 1,000 individual strands of light. Every strand required a precise pre-drilled opening and had to be hand-threaded and punched through the backside of the wall. The wall was flashed and sealed to ensure a dry, protected installation. On the front side, each fiber emerges into a recessed shadow-box cavity. Decorative PVC lattice conceals the structure, while hidden strip lighting illuminates the interior of the shadow boxes. The result is a kinetic display where twinkling fiber optics interact with the flowing gradients of the strip lighting, producing nearly infinite color combinations and motion effects.
On that same wall, seven architectural up-and-down wall lights create a second layer of illumination art. Each fixture is equipped with adjustable shutters, allowing the beams to be widened, narrowed, or angled. By controlling both light and shadow, these fixtures turn the wall into a canvas, offering a constantly changing composition. With endless combinations and no repeated patterns, the entire system becomes an interactive, ever-evolving piece of light art.
