Located on a golf course, this project was designed to be both artistic and functional—reflecting the homeowner’s love of the game while addressing the unique challenges of its setting. The client wanted a creative statement piece that would provide shade, visual interest, and protection from stray golf balls while enjoying the fire pit.

The solution was a custom-engineered, round aluminum pergola with a fully motorized louvered roof—one of a kind in its design and construction. The roof was structurally reinforced to withstand high wind loads from the open course, combining sculpture and structure in a single architectural feature.

The pool’s existing placement and steep elevation changes demanded careful planning. The under-deck area was sunken to create usable living space, while strict setbacks and zoning limitations required precision in every aspect of layout and structure.

The final result is a striking blend of artistry and engineering—a sculptural outdoor retreat that integrates seamlessly with the pool and surrounding landscape, delivering creativity, protection, and year-round livability on a highly constrained site.

Every element was custom-built to achieve a cohesive, high-end outdoor living experience. The deck features a complex, multi-level layout with intricate board patterns that flow seamlessly throughout, including down the staircases — a signature design element that requires exact precision and vision. Above, the custom roof structure was built from massive rough-sawn timbers that bring a rustic, lodge-like character to the space while maintaining architectural balance with the home.

Every railing was carefully planned to include custom metal panels that tie together the structure’s natural and modern elements. The lighting plan adds another layer of sophistication, with integrated floor, step, and ceiling lighting that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere from every angle. Beneath it all, every support post was wrapped in handcrafted stonework, each piece installed by a contractor who traveled from Colorado specifically for this project.

One of the biggest challenges was ensuring proper roof clearance — a design hurdle that required lowering the central
deck section to achieve the perfect proportion. The result is a stunning, one-of-a-kind creation that pushes the limits of deck design and craftsmanship.

This outdoor living project transforms a standard backyard into a cohesive retreat centered on connection, comfort,
and craftsmanship. The design integrates several key destinations including a covered kitchen pavilion, pool, pergola lounge, fireplace, and fire pit. Each is distinct in function yet unified through tone, texture, and light.

The TimberTech AZEK Vintage deck in Weathered Teak establishes the project’s foundation, softening the concrete and
stone hardscape while guiding movement between spaces. The kitchen pavilion features a standing seam metal roof, clear cedar ceiling, porcelain countertops, and stainless steel appliances. This creates an elegant yet durable entertaining hub. A nearby pergola and limestone fireplace form an intimate gathering area, while the open air fire pit and water features add balance, rhythm, and reflection.

A primary design challenge was shaping the layout to meet setback requirements while preserving the property’s protected trees. Every structure and footing was positioned with precision to safeguard root zones and maintain visual symmetry and flow.

Each surface, elevation, and lighting element was carefully composed to connect the built environment with its natural surroundings. The result is an integrated outdoor living space that feels warm, functional, and timeless, expressing design harmony and modern craftsmanship.
