NADRA Mission Statement
The mission of the North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA) is to provide a unified source for the professional development, promotion, growth, and sustenance of the Deck and Railing building industry in North America so that members can exceed the expectations of their customers.
NADRA Code of Ethics
Each member (company) of NADRA pledges:
- To observe the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and responsibility in the conduct of business.
- To make all advertising and sales promotions factually accurate with respect to products and services offered; to avoid practices that tend to deceive the customer with regard to pricing, warranties, certifications, financing, licenses, or insurance.
- To write all contracts such that they are fair and free of ambiguities or omissions which tend to obscure obligations and that contain warranty terms and provisions that are free of misleading or deceiving terms.
- To promptly acknowledge and respond on customer complaints.
- To refrain from any act intended to restrain or suppress competition, thereby guaranteeing equal rights and promoting the free enterprise system.
NADRA Community: Code of Conduct
Thank you for being a part of the NADRA’s online community: NADRA Connect. NADRA Connect gathers a global network of deck and railing building professionals—as well as all professionals of the outdoor living industry—to connect and empower great ideas and great people, collaborate together, and inspire leadership and achievement within the industry.
To ensure that all members have the best possible experience on the platform, we have a few ground rules that we ask everyone to adhere to. This code applies equally to every person in the community. Please keep in mind that this isn’t necessarily an exhaustive list of things that you can’t do. Instead, this Code of Conduct is intended as a guide to foster an online space that enriches the professional lives of the community members.
Ground Rules
Be welcoming: We strive to be a community that welcomes and supports people of all backgrounds and identities. Please also extend the benefit of the doubt to newer guests and members — there is no such thing as a stupid question.
Be respectful: We won’t all agree all of the time, but when we disagree don’t let those disagreements turn into personal attacks. A community where people feel uncomfortable or threatened will not be a productive one. Instead, when having discussions in the online community, create productive conversations around the content being presented, not the person behind the content.
Be considerate of the purpose of the community; Use the community to communicate goals, challenges, constructive feedback, and questions. The community should be a place for continued learning and development as well as a place where you can get help on some of the challenges you are facing as a professional (solicitation without written consent by NADRA, is strictly prohibited).
Be careful when choosing your words: We are a community of professionals. Be kind to others. Harassment and other exclusionary behavior will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Violent threats or language directed against another person
- Discriminatory jokes, language, or materials
- Defamatory or abusive language or materials
- Profane or illegal materials
- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior
A good rule of thumb is to never post anything that you wouldn’t be comfortable with the world seeing or that you wouldn’t want anyone knowing came from you.
Post your discussions or documents in the most appropriate group or topic: Make reasonable efforts to ensure that posts and materials are allocated to the appropriate group or topic. This will prevent cluttering the community and make it easier for everyone to find the materials that they are looking for.
Who We Are
NADRA is made up of deck builders, inspectors, manufacturers, dealers/distributors, lumberyards, wholesalers, retailers, and service providers to the deck and railing industry. By working together we can be one voice for the industry and deliver a clear message to the consumer and the code development bodies. NADRA serves as a trade association with an emphasis on safe building practices, and deck safety.
NADRA connects great ideas and great people to inspire leadership and achievement within the industry.
In its simplest form, NADRA helps all categories and professional levels of the outdoor living industry, with a specific focus on decking; connect and empower each other, by collaborating and working together as one voice to benefit the industry we serve.
Where it All Started
Deck builders and product manufacturer’s alike raised concerns at the 2004 DeckExpo over the compatibility of new generation wood treatments and fasteners. As a result, many realized the need for a unified industry voice. NADRA is that voice. The association is a 501(c)6 not-for-profit corporation.
