First Place

Deckscapes of Virginia LLC

This project transforms a sloped backyard into a fully integrated outdoor living space centered around a custom 45’ x 25’ gunite swimming pool with an autocover, 9’ deep end, and an elevated spa (completely installed by our crews and management team). The pool features a 25’ tanning ledge, Unilock coping, and a finish in WetEdge Luna Quartz for strength and visual appeal. Surrounding the pool, over 1,600 square feet of Unilock “Beacon Hill Flagstone” pavers form a clean patio surface accented with a Unilock “Transition” paver border. The design also includes a built-in bar island with stone veneer and granite countertops, complemented by a 54’ stone seat wall capped with Unilock materials for both function and style.

The project emphasizes a modern, monotone design, using a consistent palette of grays and natural textures to create a unified and contemporary look. It incorporates drainage systems, steel-reinforced concrete foundations, and low-voltage lighting for performance, safety, and ambiance. Grading, demolition, and construction management were coordinated to ensure smooth integration with the existing home and landscape. The result is an outdoor living space that is balanced, functional, and visually cohesive.

Second Place

This multi-level patio was designed to balance open-air living with a covered entertaining space. The homeowners requested a functional outdoor kitchen, complemented by privacy panels that provide seclusion without blocking the flow of the space.

A strategically placed see-through fireplace serves as a focal point, visually connecting the covered area with the lower patio while allowing both levels to benefit from its warmth and ambiance. The design incorporates hand-placed tiny stones throughout, creating texture and a tactile, refined finish.

Subtle lighting enhances the architectural features: flux inLite fixtures positioned at all four corners cast a three-dimensional glow, emphasizing depth and highlighting the layering of the space. Multi-level circulation, paired with carefully considered sightlines, ensures the patio feels expansive while maintaining intimacy for entertaining.

The result is a harmonious blend of function and artistry—a dynamic outdoor environment that invites year-round use while emphasizing thoughtful design, craftsmanship, and seamless integration with the home.

Third Place

Wood Bully

The Linear Luxury project was designed around geometry, flow, and alignment—an outdoor space where every surface line connects with architectural intent. Large- format porcelain pavers (shipped from Italy) were laid on 4-inch-thick concrete pads, engineered for long-term stability and perfectly level transitions across the entire property. Synthetic turf inlays break up the massing and soften the precision grid, creating a rhythmic, contemporary pattern.

Each layout line aligns seamlessly from patio to pool coping, spa, and cabana, forming a unified visual field that reads as one continuous surface. The spa is wrapped in natural stone veneer with clean coping edges, while the pool’s curved form introduces organic contrast within the linear design.

Drainage was fully integrated beneath the hardscape, eliminating visible slopes or grates while maintaining proper runoff. The cabana, covered deck, and porcelain surfaces share a matching material palette, further reinforcing symmetry and cohesion.

After dark, subtle integrated lighting defines the geometry, highlighting edges and textures without overpowering the scene. The result is a hardscape that embodies luxury through discipline—every measurement intentional, every transition seamless, and every detail crafted to feel engineered, balanced, and timeless.
