Harrisburg, PA – August 23, 2010 | Mike Wolgammuth, his wife Melissa their children Allison and Logan were the recipients of a Deck for a Solider® (D4S) build sponsored by the local Pennsylvania Chapter of NADRA.

Melissa had submitted a D4S application to The North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA) and to her amazement they were chosen! Mike an E-4 Specialist of the 25 Bravo Co., of the 628th Aviation Brigade located in York, PA was so excited “ this is amazing and now I know what it feels like to receive something I’ve always wanted” said the overwhelmed solider. Mike is obviously no stranger to giving as he has been active in the Armed Forces since 2001 giving his time and dedication serving overseas in many key military operations serving to our freedom back here in the USA.

The build took a short amount of time thanks to the volunteer force of key deck building contractors and suppliers involved from the NADRA Pennsylvania Chapter. Spearheading the build was Norm Boel; Knock on Wood Decks of Nazareth, PA along with Mike Beaudry, NADRA Executive VP, Matt Breyer of Breyer Construction, NADRA PA Chapter President, Mike Ebner of Back to Nature Decks, NADRA PA Chapter VP, Bob Lett of Wolf Distribution, NADRA National VP. Decking material donations were made by NADRA Members, Erin Barker of Simpson Strong Tie, John May of Fiberon, John Keller of Sequoia Supply and Erik Flick of Fortress Iron Railing & Fence Systems

Beaudry said “Norm was always in touch with me letting me know when he was going to have all the permits in order and so forth, I can’t give enough thanks to everyone who is here, it was built so quickly and makes the home look beautiful.” The deck build took approximately three days with a barbecue on the last day to kick off the festivities of the new outdoor living space. With their children laughing, the grill smoking and the conversations ongoing, the Wolgammuth’s will now have something to enjoy and reflect on for the rest of the summer and many others to come.

About NADRA:
Deck builders and product manufacturer’s alike raised concerns at the 2004 DeckExpo over the compatibility of new generation wood treatments and fasteners. As a result, many realized the need for a unified industry voice. NADRA is that voice. The association is now in its fourth year as a 501(c)6 not-for-profit corporation.

About Deck for a Soldier®
NADRA launched its Deck For a Soldier® program in 2007 when an inquiry came across the NADRA website. Sergeant Thomas placed an inquiry to NADRA member, Sawdust, Ltd. of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma through www.NADRA.org, in anticipation of scheduling a deck build when she returned home. Here, the idea of building a “Deck for a Soldier®” was born. This is a community effort that expresses our appreciation for the service and dedication of the men and women of our armed forces.

NADRA Mission Statement:
