FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Quakertown, PA – May 1, 2026 – Throughout the month of May, the North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA) is recognizing Deck Safety Month®, an annual campaign focused on helping homeowners and industry professionals maintain safe and well built outdoor living spaces.

Deck Safety Month® brings together deck builders, inspectors, manufacturers, lumberyards, and industry partners to encourage seasonal deck inspections / evaluations, share educational resources, and promote best practices in deck construction.

“As outdoor living continues to grow in popularity, it is important that homeowners understand the value of maintaining and evaluating their decks over time,” said Michael Beaudry, Executive Vice President of NADRA. “Deck Safety Month® is an opportunity for the industry to work together to raise awareness and support homeowners in keeping their outdoor spaces safe and enjoyable.”

Across North America, millions of decks serve as gathering spaces for families and friends. Many of these structures were built years ago, and a seasonal review can help homeowners identify maintenance needs and better understand the condition of their deck.

NADRA encourages homeowners to begin with its free Check Your Deck® consumer checklist, which highlights areas to review such as railings, stairs, connections, and visible signs of wear.

Industry professionals across the country also participate in Deck Safety Month® through NADRA’s Deck Safety Ambassador program. Ambassadors help share educational resources, promote inspections / evaluations, and encourage homeowners to evaluate their outdoor living spaces as the season begins.

Education also plays an important role in supporting deck safety. NADRA provides education programs and training resources that help deck builders, inspectors, and industry professionals stay informed about deck construction practices, safety considerations, and evolving building standards.

Homeowners and industry professionals can visit www.NADRA.org to download the Check Your Deck® checklist, learn more about Deck Safety Month®, and explore educational resources.
