Fiberon leads high-performance decking industry in WUI-approved boards

Fiberon ProTect Advantage FR Decking and Paramount PVC Decking meet strict California fire codes, offer exceptional warranties and aesthetics

NEW LONDON, N.C., (September 15, 2015) – Architects, builders, and homeowners: Fiberon® now offers two outstanding wood-alternative decking options for use in Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) areas. Fiberon ProTect Advantage® FR capped wood-plastic composite (WPC) decking and Fiberon Paramount PVC Decking meet strict California fire codes, as well as offer exceptional aesthetics and industry-leading warranties. No other composite decking manufacturer can make this claim.

Fiberon ProTect Advantage FR capped WPC decking meets the requirements of the California SFM 12-7A-4 Part A for use in all WUI zones. ProTect Advantage is:

  • Backed by a residential 25-year limited performance and 25-year stain and fade warranty. (Commercial warranty available for qualifying projects.)
  • Capped on three sides with a patent-pending, PermaTech® surface material.
  • Available in a flat-bottom design in square and grooved profiles.

Paramount PVC Decking meets the requirements of the CA SFM 12-7A-4 Part A and Part B for use in all WUI zones and San Diego County. Paramount is:

  • Backed by a residential lifetime limited residential warranty. (Commercial warranty available for qualifying projects.)
  • Available in a flat-bottom design in square and grooved profiles.
  • Highly resistant to moisture and mold, making it ideal for waterside applications.

Only Fiberon offers decking in both categories that meets these strict fire codes, giving Fiberon the strongest WUI position in composite decking. Tests were conducted in accordance with the requirements defined in the 2010 California Building Code, Chapter 7A (CSFM 12-7A-4), Materials and Construction Methods for Exterior Wildfire Exposure – Decking. The California state requirement is the International Residential Code (IRC), which requires a Flame Spread Index (FSI) of Class C or better.
