FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

WILMINGTON, Ohio – Laurel Oaks Career Campus is celebrating support from TimberTech, whose recent donation and ongoing partnership will help local students and the community this holiday season.

Representatives from TimberTech visited Laurel Oaks on Oct. 31 to tour the campus and the school’s student food pantry, which provides food and personal hygiene items to students in need. The company made a monetary donation to the pantry and announced plans to launch a food drive on its behalf.

“We are so honored that they chose to reach out and help our students,” said Keesha Tolliver, food service manager at Laurel Oaks. “Last school year, the pantry helped 221 students with food and personal hygiene items. With the help from TimberTech, we will be able to help many students over the holiday season.”

The pantry is supported entirely by donations from individuals and organizations, as well as monthly deliveries from the Freestore Foodbank in Cincinnati. Tolliver said the pantry is always looking for ways to stay stocked and continue meeting student needs.

TimberTech’s connection with Laurel Oaks began through the school’s CareerX program, led by instructor Kelley Keeton. CareerX students have partnered with TimberTech on various projects, including a new collaboration to support the greenhouse project at Sabina Elementary School.

In addition to the food pantry initiative, Laurel Oaks recently concluded a successful shoe drive organized by staff member Ami Brinley. The drive collected 3,700 pairs of shoes with help from businesses across Clinton, Highland and Fayette counties that hosted donation boxes.

“We would like to thank all of those businesses and individuals who helped us collect all the shoes,” Tolliver said.
