Thanks to all who attended our formation meeting for the Carolina chapter this past Tuesday, April 22nd at the Jocks & Jill’s restaurant in Charlotte.  We had 30 attendees who came from throughout the North and South Carolina markets to help us in forming this chapter.   It was a great turnout for our first meeting and I am hopeful that this trend will continue as we develop this chapter.

We called the meeting to order with a reading of the anti-trust statement and then I was able to take about twenty minutes and go through the benefits of NADRA and point out the many things that deck builders and associates can enjoy by becoming members of NADRA and by engaging in a local chapter. We also had our National President – Bill Ross (who came on his birthday) speak to the group about his experience with the organization and also shared some of the directives that have been put in place during his tenure and also others that the board continues to pursue.  John Lea of Decksouth in Atlanta then came up and shared his involvement in the Atlanta Chapter.  John was one of the original founding members of NADRA and his input was very valuable to the group. Our final speaker was David Elenbaum of the DeckStore in Greenville.  David serves on the National board and he gave his insight in the education and code committees in which he is involved.

We closed the meeting with an invitation for any NADRA members in the Carolina region to join us in pursuing a charter and getting the chapter off the ground.  I would like to ask anyone that attended (and also those that could not be with us) to contact me about your ability to be a part of the leadership of this chapter.  I look forward to hearing back from any of you and if you cannot get a hold of me please contact our National office.  We will be publishing a second meeting time and date in the near future.

Thanks for being a part of this inaugural meeting – Keith Compton / Past President of NADRA Atlanta and coordinator of the NADRA Carolina Chapter   (404-308-7039)
